DESIGN APPROACH

Located in La Carolina del Mar, Manantiales, Uruguay, the house was designed to establish a direct relationship with its natural surroundings and the views towards the central lagoon. The project is organized through a series of horizontal planes, large cantilevered roofs and internal patios that connect both levels, bringing natural light, ventilation and landscape into the heart of the house.

The ground floor is conceived as an open and flexible living area where the living room, dining room and kitchen are seamlessly connected to the outdoor spaces through large glazed openings. The layout is organized into two clearly defined wings: one dedicated to the family’s private spaces and the other containing the social and service areas, including a spacious barbecue pavilion overlooking the garden and the lake.

The upper floor accommodates a series of leisure and work spaces, including a cinema room, art studios, a home office and a gym with direct access to an outdoor terrace. The material palette combines travertine, concrete, wood and glass, creating a restrained and timeless architecture. The result is a house that balances privacy and openness, framing the surrounding landscape while responding to the everyday life of its inhabitants.
